Food for thought

Image
Some extra effort has been put on at work these days. And that effort is growing on me. This realization dawned to me as I sat in a junk pizza place munching one of those cheesy bastards, hot and nice with mushrooms on it, waiting for a friend. It occurs to me that we, literally, throughout our lives, live celebrating our food. I am not someone who instagrams my food the moment I set my eyes on it, but I do click the food that actually makes a difference to me at a particular instance. For example, if I am tired, I cook some lemon rice with some mint chutney and since at that moment it is my comfort food, I record it in my phone, don't post it anywhere. Or if I am on a train and as hungry as a mad dog, I click those parippvadas just because they gave me my piece of pleasure I so wanted. Record to remind. So, now I added instagram filters to my food-photos and man do they look nice! I just rummaged through my phone and I find that I have tons of such Food pictures! Shar...

Barbecue Times

Image
I attended a Barbecue workshop recently. It was a very different experience from the usual Sundays of reading/ eating/ walking around/ roaming. Some photos from that workshop were a bunch of unknowns grouped up and became chefs; with the dicing, cutting, chopping and squeezing the onions, bell-peppers, chickens, fresh aubergines, lemon and spices (garlic, limegrass, thyme, rosemary). As an eventful day we grilled out some really mouthwatering dishes, as of now all I need to buy is some coal and a fine barbecue grill ! I am thrilled.  Chicken marinated with pepper, olive oil, thyme, garlic and a mix of fine spices! Chicken wings in oyster sauce, spiced and resting on the grill The cheesiest thin-crust pizza being baked ! Slurp and drooly all over!  CultureTrailsIndia Bangalore had organised this event and I thank them for an amazing day. It is extremely chivalrous and nice to thank and acknowledge people when they have taken out their time to d...

What's New

Image
I have been really busy! There's work that I am enjoying and that I am not. As for the one that's not being enjoyed, I counter them with comfort deeds! Some pictures of how days have been going; I reckon it makes sense to bring out certain special moments that means much. It could be eating something good and soothing, getting a new pet, reading something brand new, travelling to a far off place etc. Murakami book I have been reading - It's brilliant, as always. With the many short stories, he amuses and tickles our imagination. Vivid. At a parking lot this weekend, I find this message written on the wall with a marker pen. I am sure it requires customers to be careful, but it reads funny. Meet Soozie ! She's a plump green moneyplant gifted to me by a client at work! She gets her share of sunlight everyday at my windowsill and looks like she's enjoying it! My baby! Pasta - Cheese cream and olives with shrimps. Too yum to not forget....

A page of Ghar ka khana

the opening of the biryani pot, the aroma that spreads, and the knowledge that you'll b gulping it down pretty soon when you're hungry from no breakfast; is the bestest feeling the world. After, errr many other worldly pleasures, of course! Isn't this JUST gorgeous-looking?? Yea, this was cooked at home. Not by me, hold your breath. LOL. My uncle is an excellent cook. And, this is his creation. Trust me, no Taj lands-end can give this taste of authentic Malabar Biryani. Something I envy in my uncle and his cooking skills. Before I leave this place, I HAVE to learn the recipe by-heart. It's a shame that I still havn't; blame it on college-routines babies! How I wish I were an ant living in a Biryani pot...!! *sigh..
