Very recently, I went on a houseboat at Alappey with my handsome bestie.  The journey was calm, much needed in dosage and the experience was sweet and serene. water, boats, daily life, bridges, kettuvalloms, canals, trees, glorious food tasting, awing at the size of lobsters, wading ducks, rowing a boat, paddy fields and the calm punnamada lake. look ahead the tattered bridge. slightly different, the angle. fancy them skies house. boat and trees pazhampori (banana fritters) and tea. life's this way just get into my mouth already, sexy! This was all mine safely, because my company was a fraud mallu boy sauted and boiled veggies. just good. cabbage sabji a little kitty awes at the fishes she might get her luck on! daily life | kuttanad. Punnamada lake and houseboats was much needed. I also waded through the water on a small boat, rowing across the vast 'kaayal' (lake), sheepishly looking at the life outside...

Wallpaper for Today | Paraphernalia

Image
I am thinking of giving out a few photographs in the form of wallpaper - So feel free to download this image and make it your wallpaper. Size: 1800px x 1205px Let me know if you need a bigger size. This picture was clicked when a few friends gathered at night during a power-cut and I decided we do something creative - Lying beside were a few neon light tubes and bulbs, bought that day and a dark room- Bingo! We turned the room pitch dark, drawing the shades and curtains and I set my camera on long exposure but with an increased aperture, to not allow all the light in, but only the ones that actually show up to our human eye. I make a friend stand in front of my camera, with the lights in his hands, asking him to move the lights to and fro in his free will, that could pattern out the light onto the sensor! My shutter speed was as low as 2 seconds, allowing as much movement to be captured as possible. We see the result!

Old town Charm - Goan Escapade

Image
Recently I did a backpacking trip to an interior village in Goa, called Nerul , near Bardez for a week of peace. It is a bright countryside and in the mornings you can hear birds chirping and church bells ringing- get the drift? It is that silent and perfect an escapade for  people looking for a peace of mind. This piece of land is becoming a sought after area for builders due to its remote location and much takers from the cities for the country side of calm. There is a famous Church here which is a white splendid piece of architecture, trimmed with pastel blue. Looking at it makes the morning sun saner, shining bright through the bunch of Pretty Pink Bouganvillae. Lot of dogs here though - they seem utterly enjoying the freedom they're getting. Occasionally a vehicle or two passed, breaking that crass silence of the countryside. Cows moo-ed not so far away. From the Dome of Nerul Church The Nerul Church. This guy befriended me in a little time and ...

Why The City of Dreams?

Image
Why should I thank the City of Dreams for what it has made me? Why is this happening now? Of course, I miss it immensely. Living there has brought out the real me; the fearless, smart and outgoing. Opulant and charismatic ( too many adjectives i presume? Ah, nevermind) Packing to Bombay for studies was perhaps the best decision I ever took in my life. Ok, I wasn’t alone, my parents helped me with the extremely confusing choices and options, finally roundhouse-selecting Bombay; best decision in terms of experiences i would say. I’m quite sure that the four years I spent in this city was very ‘happening’ though Dad wanted me to go to Delhi. That was because he felt nostalgic and homely, being in Delhi. Having spent a major part of his life in Delhi and the north, his mastery over Hindi and Urdu languages were far superior to any Southie I knew. During his years there, he regularly used to visit Dilli-haat  whenever he was free. He knew how Delhi’s lanes were, where Paranthe...
