Dhe! Malayali

I have been drawing caricatures lately. Back to the good ol' habbit of drawing that I am in, I decided to bring back my own scribble book and start up! I need inspirations to draw further more, although here in this one I gave it dedicatedly to my semi roots. Dhe! Malayali series is about a few malayalis and their most likely attires, jobs, names and culture. Not saying much, but you can always see! Barbecue Times

I attended a Barbecue workshop recently. It was a very different experience from the usual Sundays of reading/ eating/ walking around/ roaming. Some photos from that workshop were a bunch of unknowns grouped up and became chefs; with the dicing, cutting, chopping and squeezing the onions, bell-peppers, chickens, fresh aubergines, lemon and spices (garlic, limegrass, thyme, rosemary). As an eventful day we grilled out some really mouthwatering dishes, as of now all I need to buy is some coal and a fine barbecue grill ! I am thrilled. Usually in the race of life and for it, we step over and keep aside our personal lives for more money and acceptance in society. We overlook and take a few people for granted. Mostly those we take granted for are our immediate family- the ones who don't judge us for what we are, the ones who accept us the way we are, the ones who are never sick and tired of our antics and the ones who cannot stay away from us for a long time! Mom, dear Mom, you have been my best 3 am friend till date and I owe you big for that. I can never thank you enough for the life and confidence you gave me. I wish and pray that I be born around you every birth I take! Your values that taught me to empathetic and sympathize with fellow beings have only done me good. I am thinking of giving out a few photographs in the form of wallpaper - So feel free to download this image and make it your wallpaper. Size: 1800px x 1205px Let me know if you need a bigger size. This picture was clicked when a few friends gathered at night during a power-cut and I decided we do something creative - Lying beside were a few neon light tubes and bulbs, bought that day and a dark room- Bingo! We turned the room pitch dark, drawing the shades and curtains and I set my camera on long exposure but with an increased aperture, to not allow all the light in, but only the ones that actually show up to our human eye. I make a friend stand in front of my camera, with the lights in his hands, asking him to move the lights to and fro in his free will, that could pattern out the light onto the sensor! My shutter speed was as low as 2 seconds, allowing as much movement to be captured as possible. We see the result!
